The Hungarian Foundation for Paediatric Emergency Care is a charity organization with the aim of improving out of hospital paediatric emergency care. Since September 2005 the Foundation cooperates closely with the National Ambulance Service (OMSZ) in upgrading paediatric ambulance service nationwide.

The Foundation and the National Ambulance Service (OMSZ) had set up and launched a paediatric Ambulance Car with a paediatric emergency care specialist physician on board (ACP) on the 1st of September of 2005 in Budapest. ACP is a well-established type of service and has long been provided in countries with advanced out-of-hospital health care systems. The key benefit of this service is that an emergency care specialist is transferred to the location of need within a short time - thus the earlier specialist intervention can increase survival rates and shorten the duration of hospitalisation. ACP staff consists of two people: an MD specialised both in paediatrics and in intensive care and a driver who is a qualified paramedic. With regard to equipment, the ACP is like a mobile paediatric intensive care unit. The ACP delivers expertise and instruments as quick as possible to the injured or sick child. It's not used for the transportation of patients: its task is to stabilize patients, render them transportable, so that more cases requiring physician intervention can be managed within a given timeframe, and a certain territory. In summary, running an ACP is an up-to-date and cost-saving solution. The ACP Base Station is at Bethesda Children's Hospital in Budapest. This station was chosen with the aim of modelling an ambulance service, which is linked to a health care institution. Through internal alarm pathways, an effective ambulance staff time management can be achieved. ACP is alarmed by the Central Operating Team of the National Ambulance Service (OMSZ) in response to phone calls to the national medical emergency number 104.

The Foundation is currently seeking sponsors to purchase a new car because the one in service is already 4 years old. Renewal is obligatory by law as well. The old car could still be used as a backup since the risk of road accident with this activity is high. The Foundation had contributed to the emergency care of 500 newborns and children with severe and life-threatening conditions and performed several successful reanimations in the past one year. Besides improving out- of- hospital paediatric emergency care services, the Hungarian Foundation for Paediatric Emergency Care elaborates new treatment protocols, offers paediatric life support education courses for health care providers (for paramedics, nurses, midwifes, community paediatricians) and other relevant persons (school-teachers, kindergarten staff, parents).

The Hungarian Foundation for Paediatric Emergency services is an outstanding public benefit organization, therefore donations are income tax deductible. Please be so kind as to support a worthwhile objective to the extent you can afford - and help save lives!.

Thank you for you attention and for your donation.
